Lumineers are a well-known brand of ultra-thin, no-prep porcelain veneers made by the DenMat company. Although Dr. Siny Thomas of Sugar Land is familiar with Lumineers, he is doesn’t like resuts they produce. He prefers other brands of ultra-thin, no-prep veneers. And he gets amazing results.

A Natural-Looking Alternative to Lumineers
Dr. Thomas provides no-prep or minimal-prep veneers, but his approach to creating beautiful smiles differs from Lumineers. Like other advanced cosmetic dentists, Dr. Thomas criticizes the results produced by DenMat. They require that Lumineers have to be made in their own large dental laboratory. Many cosmetic dentists criticize the work of this laboratory, saying that Lumineers don’t mimic natural teeth in shape, color, and translucence—details that make your smile a unique expression of your personality.
Dr. Thomas works with a master ceramist to craft porcelain veneers that look like a beautiful smile that’s always been yours. Rather than rush you through the process to match the two-visit turnaround time of Lumineers, Dr. Thomas takes time to ensure you’re comfortable and confident that your smile design matches what you envisioned.
His Process
Dr. Thomas follows a process to help guarantee that you’ll love your smile.
- You’ll have a consultation with him to discuss the improvements you want to see in your smile.
- He’ll take photographs of your face and smile to ensure your smile design captures your personality and complements your facial features.
- You will see digital versions of your face and how various tooth shapes and sizes will affect your smile and facial appearance. For an additional fee, Dr. Thomas offers another preview before he does any work on your teeth—a lab-made mock-up of your new smile that he will place over your teeth. If you move forward with treatment, the cost of the mock-up will be credited against the treatment fee.
- Your teeth might not require any preparation for your porcelain veneers to look natural. But if some preparation is needed, Dr. Thomas will do it conservatively and preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible.
- Unlike Lumineers, you’ll wear a provisional smile before Dr. Thomas’s ceramist makes your veneers so you can decide if you love the results. Dr. Thomas will ensure you do before his master ceramist crafts your veneers.
- Before Dr. Thomas bonds your porcelain veneers to your teeth, he will attach them with a try-in paste for you to see how they look at feel. If you’re delighted, he’ll bond your veneers for a long-lasting, gorgeous smile. He offers a beautiful smile guarantee—he won’t bond them to your teeth unless you love how they make you look.
