Everyone knows that healthy gums are bright and pink. They don’t bleed when you brush your teeth, and your breath is fresh. At Cornerstone Dentistry, we strongly believe in being proactive with helping our patients have healthy gums. That’s why when we see the evidence of gum recession, we work aggressively with our patients to remedy the situation. One way to do so is with minimally invasive treatment.
What Are Receding Gums?
Receding gums are pretty much what they sound like. This is gum tissue that is slowly exposing more of the tooth, and in some cases can expose the root which leads to painful conditions. Untreated receding gums can become infected. This can result in the loss of teeth, and in serious cases, periodontal disease, the loss of tissue in the jawbone. Treating receding gums is critical to ensuring your teeth stay healthy and in your mouth.
What Is Pinhole Gum Recession Treatment?
The Pinhole Surgical Technique is a type of gum recession treatment. A dentist makes small holes in the gum tissue, moves the tissue around the tooth, and inserts collagen. This process stimulates the growth of gum tissue and allows you to feel noticeably better about your teeth. The procedure has minimal, if any, pain. Furthermore, after a couple of days, your teeth and gums will look and feel as good as new. Thanks to this treatment, many people have avoided tooth loss and infections of the gum tissue.
Dr. Siny Thomas is familiar with the Pinhole Surgical Technique, and he used it in the past. He’s learned a new technique that involves minimally invasive soft tissue grafting, and he achieves natural-looking results with it.
